Verleidelijk!! / Tempting!!

For English translation, please see the blue text below

Hoe zag jouw stad eruit?

ENGLISH TRANSLATION

Today I happened to see the new flyer of the Archiefschool (the institute for archival education and research in the Netherlands) in our information mill. Every year, that one will again have to tempt innocent students to become archivists.. ;-)

Besides that, these kind of promotion things are also a good measurement to see how the field views itself. Therefore I was pleasantly surprised by some text quotes:

Do you want to find out how things were in the past? How did your city used to look? What was the first movie on YouTube? The archivist preserves all information that is worth of it, so that everyone may view and use it.

And:

You adjust your services to the customer. For the municipal government you'll write a research report, for school kids you'll make an exciting game.

YouTube? Games? Is this the same study as the one that I finished only a few years ago? I would almost love to start a study again - just kidding! - especially because they also already have these classes about web 2.0.

Anyway, by the grammar error in the original Dutch text in the flyer, it shows that this all is still a bit strange for us! :-P

There is a future in the archives!

PS: And now what was this first movie then???

2 opmerkingen:
